Darren Smith was a young rider and contemporary of Robbie McEwen’s. Darren was tragically killed in a road accident whilst out training. The race is held annually in his memory and draws some of the biggest names in Australian cycling.
This year the race is held at the Holden Driving Centre in Woongoolba and has annually attracted a large spectator contingent from Northern NSW and South East Queensland.
The criterium affords the crowd an excellent opportunity to see some of cycling’s best riders, and up and coming talent, go head to head on a fast course.
