Junior Cyclones named for 2012 Road World Championships

Cycling Australia, Tuesday, 10 July 2012

Cycling Australia is pleased to confirm the junior men and women selected to contest the 2012 UCI Road World Championships being staged in Limburg, Netherlands from 15 to 23 September 2012.

Allison Rice, Jessica Mundy, Bradley Linfield and Nicholas Shultz made their road worlds debut last year in Denmark while Georgia Baker, Emily Roper, Caleb Ewan and Alex Morgan come into the road team having last year claimed junior world titles on the track.

Team selection was finalised after last month's Cycling Australia U19 Road National Championships in Shepparton where Roper was a stand-out performer claiming both the time trial and road race gold medals.

Meantime Ewan, who won two stages of the elite level Jayco Bay Classic in January, proved he can do more than sprint by winning the Under 19 time trial crown in Shepparton. He also collected silver in the road race behind Robert-Jon McCarthy who will make his world championship debut in Holland.

Morgan and Baker will also represent Australia on the boards when they line up in August at the UCI Junior Track World Championships in Invercargill, New Zealand.
