Spanish success for Para-cyclists
Australia's Para-cyclists have wrapped up the Spanish round of the World Cup with a total of five gold, three sliver and two bronze medals after three days of racing in the town of Segovia.
Canberra's Sue Powell added a win in the C4 60 kilometre road race to her day one victory in the time trial. Powell outsprinted Canadian Marie Claude Molnar on the line at the end of the five laps while team mate Alex Green from Sydney, was ten seconds further back in third place.
In the men's C5 road race Victorian Michael Gallagher was six seconds behind winner Yehor Dementyev of the Ukraine who crossed the line solo at the end of the 72 kilometre, six lap event.
Tricyclist Carol Cooke (T2) also added road race silver to her time trial gold with her performance over two laps of the 12 kilometre circuit. In the men's T2 race, also over 24 kilometres, development rider Jarrad Langmead rode strongly to finish third.
West Australian Claire McLean was fifth in the 60 kilometre C5 women's race and Simone Kennedy was second in the C3 women's road race over 36 kilometres. David Nicholas finished tenth in the 60 kilometre C3 men's road race.
The Paralympians in the team will now head to Brands Hatch in England where, on Tuesday, they will test out the road race circuit for the Paralympic Games.
