Cure clears out for solo Dutch win
Tasmanian Amy Cure has won the second stage of the Star Zeeland Islands in the Netherlands to grab the overall lead with one stage to race.
The Jayco-AIS rider, who is also a member of the track team for the Olympic Games in London, launched an audacious solo attack 40 kilometres from the finish of the 106 kilometre stage from Middelburg to Flushing to gain, at one point, a lead of almost two minutes.
Despite a concerted chase she managed to stay clear and crossed the line 21 seconds ahead of Kirsten Wild (AA Drink / Leontien.nl) with Amy Pieters (Skil-Argos) third.
Cure goes into the final 131 kilometre stage with a 16 second lead over Wild with Pieters at 17 seconds.
