2013 Introduction

Due to the continued success of the 2012 Queensland Road Teams Series it has been decided to again conduct the series in 2013.  The goal of the organising committee is to provide specific events for registered teams and to raise the level of competitiveness for the riders. Also it provided an opportunity for team supporters to gain valuable experience in team management. We believe that this was achieved and because of their development, many of the athletes will progress further to national and international level in the future.

Our special thanks and appreciation is extended to the volunteers who made the series possible as well as our very supportive sponsor, Peter Oversluizen of Triple Play who threw his full support behind the team series to ensure its success.

Our genuine appreciation is also extended to various organisations in the different towns and districts where the events were organised. I refer to the local councils, P&C committees at the different schools, Rotary Clubs, Lions Clubs, SES and police officers who assisted with all the arrangements.

Following feedback received from teams competing in the 2012 series, it was agreed to continue with 2-day events.  Once again, due to the difficulties involved in obtaining permits closer to the metropolitan area, we are travelling to regions within an easy driving distance.

There will be a mixture of events contained in the rounds and will include Individual Time Trials, Team Time Trials, Road Races and Criteriums.  In addition, community rides as part of the "Ride the Regions" series will be added to provide further community engagement and opportunities for recreational cyclists.

Whilst every effort is being made to adhere to the listed program of events, it will all be dependent obtaining the relevant permits.

I am sure that this year will again see a great improvement in the ability of the competitors and a great camaraderie as one of the great benefits of teams’ racing.
