Free workshops for athletes, parents, coaches and volunteers

The Department of communities Sport and Recreation department is offering free workshops as part of their 'Locker Room' series for interested persons in Cairns, Caloundra, Charlesville, Ipswich, North lakes and Stanthorpe.

The 'Locker Room' is an educational forum about exchanging ideas and sharing knowledge. They are held throughout Queensland and provide an opportunity for those involved in sport and recreation at the grassroots level to learn from high-profile coaches, elite athletes, officials and industry professionals.

Purpose of ‘Locker Rooms’:

  • To encourage coaches, officials, volunteers and administrators to be active and remain active in Queensland’s sport and recreation industry;
  • Promote sport, coaching and officiating in regional and rural Queensland;
  • Improve knowledge and awareness in current issues in sport;
  • Provide information to the community about Queensland Government sport and recreation funding programs; and
  • Provide a safer sporting environment for all sports people.

Target Audience:

  • Coaches – accredited and non accredited;
  • Officials – referees, umpires, scorers, judges, managers;
  • Teachers;
  • Students;
  • Sports administrators & committee/board members;
  • Athletes;
  • Parents;
  • Volunteers; and
  • Health & Fitness professionals.
