2010 Queensland Elite & Masters Road Championships

Cyclists from all over Queensland will converge on Elimbah to contest the 2010 Queensland Elite & Masters Road Cycling Championships on Sunday 14 August Cyclists from all over Queensland will converge on Elimbah to contest the Queensland Road Cycling Championships on Sunday 15 August. This course has not been used by Cycling Queensland since 1967, when Toowoomba ace cyclist, Brian Page took out the coveted title from Sandgate’s Ray Meredith. Riders will compete in Elite Men and Women’s Categories as well as all Masters divisions ranging from 30 to 80 years of age and cover distances from 40 km to 180km. The race course selected by organisers will take the competitors past fields of luscious strawberries, papaws and pineapples whilst traversing roads connecting Elimbah and Wamuran, Tony Russell, the owner of Wolves Bike Den in Caboolture will have a home town advantage on this course and will compete in the Masters 4 Division, while Gold Coast cyclist Greg Sands will compete in the Masters Division 5. Elimbah State School will be used as race headquarters, where the P & C will be serving delicious refreshments for the cyclists, their supporters and officials, while adding much needed cash into their coffers. Registration for the event will take place at the school, whilst there will be ample parking in the near vicinity.
